Framing can be hassle free and simple
at times. Other times it can be a nightmare, when the frame
and the image simply do not match up and the frame becomes
stretched or squashed. I will show you the simple quick and
easy method where at times you are lucky and the framing
goes off without a glitch and the final outcome is stunning!

Click on the EXTRACT button
- Browse for the folder I mentioned above.

LET'S START FRAMING |

| Open The Image In Paint
Shop Pro |

| Click on IMAGE | PICTURE
FRAME |

| STEP THREE |
Browse for barrys_tutorial_frame,
select the option FRAME CANVAS, select
the option FRAME OUTSIDE OF THE IMAGE.
You can play around with the settings to see what settings
creates the best framing option. Sometimes a frame can appear "squashed" on
the vertical sides of the image - click on the ROTATE
FRAME 90 (degrees) CW option and often this rectifies
the problem. If it appears in proportion - just click the OK button. |

| STEP FOUR (Optional) |
You can add a DROPPED
SHADOW to the frame if you like to give it some
depth. Make sure that the layer with the frame on it is
selected (it should be by default at this stage) if not
just click on that layer with your mouse. If your layer
palette is not visible - depress F8 on
your keyboard to activate it. Compare your layer palette
with the image below just to make sure. |

ADDING A DROP SHADOW |
Go to EFFECTS |
3D EFFECTS | DROPPED SHADOW and use these settings
(see image below) or play around and use your own settings.
You can also repeat the drop shadow and reverse the VERTICAL and HORIZONTAL settings
to -4 and -4 to apply a reversed dropped shadow. |

In the FRAMING
ISSUES tutorial I will show you how to FRAME an
image MANUALLY. Sometimes when applying
a .pfr frame the outcome looks revolting, the frame can
end up either being squashed or stretch out of proportion
- even blurry and out of focus. In a lot of instances you must rather use a frame in TUBE or PNG format. If you do not have the frame in TUBE or PNG format you can always convert .pfr frames to either a tube or a PNG, you can do this buy browsing within PSP to the FRAME directory where you .pfr frames are stored, open the one you would like to use and export it as a PNG or a TUBE.
Framing issues occur when the FRAME and
the IMAGE are not in proportion to each
other. Your only alternative is to adjust your image to
the proportion of the frame. There is not much you can
do to correct this apart from adjusting your image size
or rather choose a frame that suites the proportions of
your image. The only other option is to create your own
frame in sizes that suite your needs, but that's a whole
other story! :-) |
