This is just s simple tutorial on how to manually correct a photo
when all the automatic options do not produce the desired results.

Barry's Paint Shop Pro Tutorial - Enhancing Photos

KITTY

The photo below on the left of Kitty on the beach - is rather dark. I find that sometimes I have to manually correct photos in Paint Shop Pro rather than using the ONE STEP PHOTO FIX.

Below you can see what the ONE STEP PHOTO FIX results did not improve this image at all. At times the ONE STEP PHOTO FIX works marvelously, but mostly I manually correct my images. This tutorial is just a guideline, there are never hard and fast rules. One must experiment with different settings for the best results.

In The Image Above - The ONE STEP PHOTO FIX was applied - The results are not what I wanted.

STEP ONE

Open your image you want enhance. I am using Kitty again. Thanks Kitty! We love you!! (She is just gonna love seeing herself on the Internet!) :-)

STEP TWO

Click on the FILL FLASH icon

or go to ADJUST | PHOTO FIX | FILL FLASH and use the settings below, or your own. Click on OK. (In PSPX2 Fill Flash on Adjust Menu)

STEP THREE

Go to ADJUST | BRIGHTNESS AND CONTRSAT | BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST or use the shortcut SHIFT + B, and use the settings below or play around with your own. Click on OK.

STEP FOUR

Click on the DIGITAL CAMERA NOISE REMOVAL icon

or go to ADJUST | PHOTO FIX | DIGITAL CAMERA NOISE REMOVAL, these are the settings. Once again play around to see what suits you. (In PSPX2 Digital Noise on Adjust Menu)

STEP FIVE

Below is the final image. Ready for framing!

HINT
THIS IS A VERY HANDY LITTLE HINT TO KNOW - I ONLY
DISCOVERED THIS LITTLE SECRET NOT SO LONG AGO MYSELF!

This is an option you must not forget to play around with is the ADJUST | COLOR BALANCE | FADE CORRECTION. (In PSPX2 Adjust | Color | Fade Correction) I used a setting of 10 for the photo below. Play around with the setting. It does make a huge difference to some photos! Sometime you only need to apply the FADE CORRECTION filter to enhance your photos without making any further adjustments. Or you could incorporate that step into your other photo adjustment methods. Cool Hey! :-)
